Naughty has said that it is thinking about making a sequel to The Last of Us.
With the release of The Last of Us Remastered for PS4 on the horizon, Naughty Dog has revealed that this may not be the last game from that universe that we see on PS4.
Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer told Videogamer that it would "be a disservice to ourselves and our fans" not to consider making The Last of Us 2.
"I think we always make a smart decision in that all of our games are self-contained stories so they don't have to continue if we don't want them to or if there's no reason for them to continue," Meyer said.
"It really comes down to is there something interesting in this universe we've created that we want to continue to explore? Is it something that we can get the entire team passionate about? Is it something we can get the creative directors excited about and then we could continue it?," she continued.
This isn't the first time that Naughty Dog has commented on the possibility of The Last of Us 2, with creative director Neil Druckman previously saying that there was a 50/50 chance that The Last of Us will get a sequel.
With key members of Naughty Dog currently at work on Uncharted 4, one thing is for sure: it is unlikely we'll get to see The Last of Us 2 for a good few years if the decision is made to develop a sequel.
